fantastic match, fantastic score! again!

Yesterday São Paulo did its home game against Cruzeiro for the Libertadores Cup. Although it was a very cold night in the city of SP, lots of people went to the stadium to support our team. Everything seemed to go right on that night. Right on the first minute of the game, Kleber (Cruzeiro's best striker) received a red card, which means that São Paulo played the whole game with one more player than Cruzeiro. However, it wasn't just that. We demonstrated a excellent soccer, it was amazing to watch. Our first goal was amusing! Junior Cesar dribbled two players and the same time, and passed the ball to Hernanes, who scored! After that, the game was practically all on our hands. Even though Cruzeiro still needed to score 3 goals to classify, SPFC was attacking all the time. Consequence: another goal! This time Dagoberto scored another beautiful goal! The crowd was almost going grazy on the stands of the stadium.. They were singing a lot! The game ended 2x0 to us, like the first game!
This was a revenge for São Paulo FC. Last year in the Libertadores Cup, Cruzeiro eliminated us with exacts SPFC 0 x 2 Cruzeiro, in morumbi. However, this time was different. In addition, we are playing much better than last year. In my opinion we really have changes to win this tournament. All players has been working very hard to face all challenges possible :) Unfortunately, the continuation of Libertadores is just after the world cup ! But we are going to play even harder to win the championship!

fantastic match, fantastic score!

Sao Paulo F.C traveled to Belo Horizonte to play againt the Cruzeiro at their home stadium. The club was playing their first match with the striker Fernandão who came from Goias, also, since Miranda´s sister passed away, we played with Xandao and Richarlyson to make our defense even stronger. The best offensive team (Cruzeiro) was playing against the best defense team (SPFC) in the tournament. Cruzeiro did lose some opportunities, but wasn't able to score in our strong and consistent team. The home team could not get pass the solid defense from São Paulo.
Daboberto, who is Sao Paulo´s striker, scored the first goal in the match with an excleent pass by Marlos, in the first-half. After that, Rogerio Ceni (our goalkeeper) did a great job defending São Paulo's goal for a couple of times. In addition, the second-half was quite exciting for all of us. I seriously thought that Cruzeiro would score a goal right on the begging, I wasn't used to see SPFC playing such a good match this year. What happened was, we scored again! This time Fernandão made a incredible pass (with his heel) to Hernanes, who calmly made 0 x 2. In the last 10 minutes of game, Cruzeiro was attacking all the time. I'm pretty sure that every one who supports SPFC in the world got very nervous. Fortunately, the game ended Cruzeiro 0 x 2 São Paulo. Taking into account that scoring 2 goals in Cruzeiro's home stadium is very difficult, we can say that SPFC is very close to the classification. In the following wednesday, we can lose by 1 goal of difference, or they need to score 2 goals so the match will go on in penalty kicks. However, I honestly don't think this is going to happen. São Paulo played very well and overcame the mistrust of their own fans. Now its just wait to the next game in our home stadium, morumbi!!

I can say that tuesday was a special day for me, specially at night. I went to São Paulo's game for the Libertadores Tournament with my dad. Unfortunately, there was a lot of traffic, and I arrived about 5 minutes late. But actually, it wasn't a problem. The entire game was dominated by SPFC. It was unbelievable how much our team had the ball possession during the game. Because of a lack of luck, São Paulo didn't score the entire match. The first game against Universitario was 0x0, and hence if the second game had the same result, it would go to the penalties. And so it was..
About 43.000 people were at the Morumbi Stadium. Everyone was unsatisfied with the final score, but we knew that it was an important support for our team. Our crowd kept singing the SPFC anthem while Universitario started the penaltis. They scored with a very well-done kick. Rogerio Ceni, our goalkeeper, was the first player. The crowd was yelling a looooot, we could barely listen to a conversation near us. Universitario's goalkeeper made a great defense: Rogerio lost his penalty. The situation seemed to get complicated for us, mainly because of Rogerio's psychological. We started to shout his name, so he could gain more confidence; and so he did. He brilliantly defended the two following kicks, while SPFC was scoring all. When there was practically two penaltis left, the Universitario's player missed the penalty. By this time, if our player Dagoberto scored, we win the match. HE DID IT !
It was a great relief and a wonderful feeling for all of us! SPFC is now on the next phase of the Libertadores Cup! :)

São Paulo 1x0 Once Caldas

São Paulo FC had a great game yesterday against Once Caldas. Different from the first game, this time we won the match and played much better than before. São Paulo's supporters were present in a huge amount, about 51.000 people, the biggest crowd of the year.
The game started very good for us, attacking all the time, and putting a lot of pressure. Rogerio Ceni, our goal-keeper, didn't have too much work. In addition, when this half was about to end, about 40 minutes, Fernandinho scored a goal! This moment was fantastic, every person in the crowd was screaming and hugging each other. However, the second-half wasn't as good as the first one. Once Caldas startes to attack more, and we wasn't able to score another goal. Time seemed to be passing by very slow this half. But our defense, including our luck, was excellent and the opposing team didn't score, which means that the game finished SPFC 1x0 Once Caldas. This final score means that São Paulo finished the first phase in the first place of our group, which will lead us to play against the second-placed from another group. Nevertheless, SPFC is not yet playing so well to win this tournament, so lots of pratice and focus is going to be required in the following days.

São Paulo 2 x 3 Santos

The first game of the semi-finals from the Paulista League involving SPFC and Santos was very exciting. I went to the morumbi stadium expecting a difficult game. There were about 35.000 people, in which the big majority was supporting São Paulo. The game started good for our side, but unfortunately, in a very silly mistake, Santos scored their first goal. São Paulo, then, didn't react well to the situation; consequently, Santos scored again. The first-half finished SPFC 0 x 2 Santos, and also one of our attacking players received a red card for making 2 dangerous fauls. Summarizing, São Paulo was with one player less than Santos, and losing with a difference of two goal. Even though things seemed to be already lost, São Paulo showed it competence and right on the begging scored 2 goal ! One with Hernanes, and the other with Dagoberto. The game was now 2 x 2. All of our fans were screamming a lot, and SPFC started playing better, with "happiness". Unfortunately, when it was around 43 minutes of the second-half, almost finishing the game, Santos scored a third goal. One could see the sadness around Morumbi, it was weird because people wasn't angry, they're sort of sad, and disappoineted, in a way. Nevertheless, not everything is lost, we still have the second game, which is going to take place in Santos. It is going to be much harder, since the crowd will be basically of Santos' fans. But its possible.

São Paulo 5 x 0 Botafogo

Since it was easter, not a lot of people went to watch SPFC playing agains Botafogo in Morumbi. However, those who were there, and even those who watched in TV liked a lot the game. SPFC was playing with all its players except for the strinker Washington and the middle-fielder Leo Lima. Surprisingly, São Paulo just scored the first goal in the very end of the first-half. This seemed to be a tough game, due to the fact that Botafogo's defense was very accurate and strong. Our players were having difficulties on getting close to the goal and Rogerio Ceni even lost a penalty kick. But at exaclty 45 minutes Marlos made a beautiful goal. The second-half started and the crowd were supporting a lot our team. Hernanes scored first at 14 minutes, and than Rodrigo Soulto at 22 minutes. Two minutes later, at 24, Junior Cesar scored, and by last Hernanes scored again at 36 minutes.

Now São Paulo is back in the third place of the state's tournament, which is leading our team towards the semi-finals! However, in my opinion, coach Ricardo Gomes should allow some players to rest and not play the following game, so they wouldn't be tired to the other competition. Since this one is almost sure that we will achieve the main goal, that is getting on the semi-finals.

Bad Luck

I don't really remember of seen such a good soccer game in a year, for instance. São Paulo played against Corinthians this Sunday at 4 p.m on Pacaembu with about 24.000 people.
The game started in favor of Corinthians, who made 2 x 0 first with the players Elias and Danilo. However, in a very well-done counterattack, Jean made 2 x 1. Eventhough it seemed that we're going to improve and get better on the game, Corinthians scored another goal, now it was 3 x 1, and a short amount of time to recuperate the score, but not everything was lost. São Paulo
incredibly o tied the game 3 x 3, Rodrigo Souto scoring both goals. Of course that, having all the crowd against you is not easy, but SPFC ALMOST did 3 x 4, but unfortunately who did was Corinthians. On the last two minutes of the game, OUR defensive player scored a goal against our own team. It was not intencional, but because of that bad luck we lost the game. End: Corinthians 4 x 3 São Paulo. In addition, one of our best players received a red card, as well as Dentinho from Corinthians. In my point of view, Washington (the one that received such card) deserved to play all the game, since he was playing fair.
Although we lost the last two games of the state tournament, we still on third place, which takes us to semi-finals. In other words, losing this game didn't make a difference, technically speaking.
Now, the focus is on our next game agains Monterrei in Mexico, for the most important tournament of the year.

leader :)

Finally SPFC demonstrated a good soccer and won the game against Nacional, again, but now in Morumbi. This time our team played much better and made a beautiful score, 3 x 0. Dagoberto, Leo Lima and Washington was the ones who scored, but in general SPFC was playing united, and showing excellent football. It all started on thursday at 9:30 pm in the stadium of Morumbi - São Paulo. The night had everything in favor, it was hot, it had a looooot of people - all SPFC supporters -
Since the other teams from our group didn't win their games, SPFC is the new leader! Now its left just one game, so our classification to the next phase of this tournament is very close! It all seems like our team is back to the "good and old" SPFC everybody is used to. That fact kind of scares the other teams, since they know we're such a adversary for them.. haha..
However, we need to keep that great soccer in all matches, mainly the ones for this specific tournament. I'm pretty sure that now we will become the outstanding team as before, at least we have everything to do so.. =)

SPFC 2 x 0 Nacional

"Excellent result, but we still have a lot to improve." - Coach Ricardo Gomes

On thursday night SPFC had it's third game for the most important tournament of the year. Since we lost the last game, we needed to win to gain confidence and position. The match took place in Paraguay, Nacional's home. Even though it was in another country, there were hundreds of supporters for our team. Throughout the game, SPFC proved to be superior in both ways, technically and tactically. Nevertheless, the players seemed to be not as interested as it was supposed. This is due to the fact that we we're losing lots of passes and wasting a bunch of chances. But fortunately Washington, again, scored two goals and confirmed our victory.
Certainly playing away from our stadium on such a difficult tournament is not easy, but surely we had everything to do better. But what really matters is the final score, which we achieved :)

not balanced.

São Paulo had an awesome game against Monte Azul last week. We won from 5 x 1, in which a new player in the team scored 4 goals in 45 minutes. Everything looked finally normal to us, until the next game. São Paulo tied the game against Oeste, but for me that final score wasn't fair. This is due to the fact that SPFC attacked the entire game, it was almost "attack vs. defense". However, we have some excuses. Our coach had a small heart attack on the game agains Palmeiras and wasn't able to go to the game. In addition, our main player and another starter didn't even travel to the city that the game was going to happen.
Even though we're having some difficulties in finding our perfect team and rapport, I'm pretty sure that we will become the old SPFC everybody is used to. Specially when it comes to "Libertadores", since that is the touranment that all teams are looking foward to.

SPFC lost the game and the leadership

This was a typic kind of game that São Paulo used to play before. Our players did well on the first-half and even scored the first goal. However, afterthat the game got dangerous for us, and Once Caldas was improving its defense. But we stood under control until the end of the primarily part, since all the players we're in excellent harmony. Nevertheless, the second-half began horrible for SPFC. The opponent team scored right on the begging, and São Paulo didn't react positively. Furthermore, the actual coach did a very unhappy substitution of player: instead of adding attacking players to the game, since we wanted to win, he put a defensive middle-fielder one; taking out a striker. Consequentely, Once Caldas scored its victory goal.
Even though this game meant the loss of the top position on the group, it was also very important for the goalkeeper, Rogerio Ceni, that turned into the team's leading scorer in all editions of this tournament.

São Paulo vs Monterrey

Wensday night São Paulo won the first game of the most important tournament of the year in the morumbi stadium. The game was 2xo, Washington scored once, and the defensive player from Monterrey socred the other. Morumbi was beautiful. There was about 36,000 people singing and supporting all the time. This game was very important to São Paulo, since, besides all other aspects, it was Cicinho's first came when he came back. He was a excellent player that won the world championship with SPFC; however, he went to Europe, but now he's back. He started on the bench, but the croud was shouting his name all the time. In the second-half, missing about 15 minutes to end, the coach Ricardo Gomes put him in. His debut wasn't perfect, accually far away from that. But we're all expecting a lot from what he can do to improve the team. The game itself wasn't perfect too. The players said that it was a bad game, eventhough the final score wasn't that terrible. This thinking is very good, since they'll be always practing a lot to upgrade :)

SPFC vs. SANTOS

This sunday I went to Barueri (city inside the state of sao paulo) to watch São Paulo against Santos. This game was of big importance for Santos since it was Robinho's first game; and as everyone was expecting, he scored. However, it didn't seem like an easy game for both teams. When it began, SPFC was attacking a lot and Santos just defending. But it didn't take longer than 15 minutes when Santos "balanced" the game. Both teams were playing equaly, but Santos used better its opportunities. The first-half finished SPFC 0 x 1 (Neymar in a penalty kick). On the second-half SPFC had lots of changes with Washington, but who tied the game was Roger. Minutes after that, Robinho scored the last goal of the game. It ended SPFC 1 x 2 santos :(
Fortunately, now spfc is playing championship of huge importance in the world, wich the first game is on the next wensday. As said the coach, 100% focus on this game. On the other hand, Santos is dedicating itself a lot on paulistão, since they're not playing this importante championship.

Hernanes - Andre Dias

We can say that Hernanes is the best player in SPFC. Some can even say that he is one of the best soccer players in Brazil. Therefore, the European clubs go crazy and desperate to “buy” him. In the beginning of this season lots of rumors were spread in the city of Sao Paulo saying that he was finally moving to Europe. However, that didn’t happen. SPFC took a lot of advantage from that, since, as everyone know, he is essential on our team and “we depend on him”.

André dias was the biggest surprise of the week. No one was expecting, but on the last day available to negotiate players he received and offer from Lazio (an Italian team), and was “sold’ for R$ 6.5 million. This surprising event was very disappointing for the fans, since he’s an excellent defense player that everyone will miss.
